We want to try and repay some of the countries accumulating debt by "selling" it, by doing so we also want to protest the governments handling of the current financial situation

We want to show the countries that were affected by the collapse of the Icelandic banking system that the Icelandic people wish them nothing ill and would gladly pay them back if they could. So to show that Icelanders want to remain in good relations to their neighbours we will “sell” the country and use the proceeds for charity in the countries affected by the collapse of the banks. This is a symbolic gesture, not in our wildest dreams do we think that this initiative can pay off the entire debt.

We are going to sell pieces of Iceland for $100 each. We have divided a map of Iceland into 10.000 pieces. So "selling" Iceland could generate as much as 1.000.000 USD and we want to take that money (or however much we get) and use it for charitable causes in the countries that where hit by the collapse of the Icelandic banking system. We'll ask the buyers to designate their money to a certain country. So if 35 % of buyers designate the UK and we sell for a total of 500.000 USD we'll use 175.000 USD for a charitable cause in the UK.
